To foster a just and equitable society, we partner with local business, organizations (private or public), governmental and community at different levels. Through the support of MG&E, we host a monthly Hmong Community Networking meeting for Hmong individuals. Our advocacy work include the serving on the Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, WI State Superintendent Advisory’s Council , UW-Madison Chancellor’s Community of Color Committee, Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent’s Human Resource Advisor Council, Dane County Law Enforcement and Community of Color Committee, Hmong Educational Council in order to address state, county, city and school district level policy that affects our community.
2020 Census is important and the Hmong Institute has partnered with the City of Madison’s Census 2020 to make sure our communities are educated about the the Census and the importance of participating in the Census.
The Hmong Institute also partners with Edgewood College to offer the Hmong American Community Certificate Program and the Hmong Health Summit while we partner with Madison College to offer cultural workshops.
Arts is culture! Cultural heritage is the foundation to build a strong individual. We are honor to receive support from the Wisconsin Arts Board to bring Hmong artist residents to expose and teach Hmong folk music students in Hmong Language and Culture Enrichment Program since 2017.
The Hmong Institute served as the lead Resident Panel for the Imagine Madison process by organizing and conducting input sessions for Hmong residents. Hmong residents were able to provide input on how on future of Madison in regards to Housing, Transportation, Park and Rec, Community Space, Employment, Education, and Culture.
